Esomeprazole, sold under the brand names Nexium among others, is a medication which reduces stomach acid. It is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease, and Zollingerâ Ellison syndrome. Effectiveness is similar to other proton pump inhibitors.
